Finally went to the much hyped about Kranji mangrove with RY, PY and J.
It looks pretty nice and even better, not as muddy as I expected.
Sonneratia ovata an uncommon tree is in considerable abundance here.
Of course, the recent discovery of the critically endangered Buguiera hainesii. Here are the dropped calyx~
And the trunk and buttress roots.
On same of the lower lying leaves of the tree were many shiny mangrove shield bugs.
The find of the day was when RY found this young Aegiceras corniculatum.
And another one! Do watch out RY’s tiderchaser blog for more discoveries and updates about this plant~
Some other findings include this mangrove sap sucking slug.
I was also surprised to find a yellow flame (Peltophorum pterocarpum) in the mangrove!
I was particularly interested in this climber of which I have no idea about the ID. Guess have to wait for some help~
I don’t mind getting down and dirty during field trips, or even mosquitoes. But I thing that I can’t stand are spiders and spider webs… How gross is this?!
I guess everybody is scared of something, I like spiders but I can't stand gastropods.
